IF EVERYBODY LOOKED THE SAME,
WE'D GET TIRED OF LOOKING AT EACH OTHER.
Co-produced by Stage Left Productions, Calgary SCOPE Society and UCalgary Drama, 2000
A social satire of some ridiculous examples of inequity in community inclusion, that many people with disabilities suffer through on a daily basis and one of the earliest examples of professional artist-community collaboration with members Calgary's Persons with Development Disabilities community.
If Everybody Looked the Same... was a unique collaboration between the Disability Action Hall, a social active collective of people with disabilities and their allies who advocate for social justice (which our AD co-created for Calgary SCOPE Society), UCalgary Drama (where our founding AD was working toward a BFA) and Stage Left Productions.
If Everybody Looked the Same... is dedicated to the memory of Arlene Compton, a founding member of the Disability Action Hall and a strong advocate for disability rights. Arlene was an artist in her own right (having cerebral palsy, she painted beautiful, emotional expressions with her feet). Her strength and creativity are reflected in every page of this script. You are missed and very much loved, Arlene.
